Assemblyman Jim Conte (R,C,I,WF-Huntington Station)
today announced that the Town of Huntington will
receive a $1.56 million state grant for the Columbia
Tower Street Housing Revitalization project. The
grant represents part of the Huntington Station
Revitalization project that Assemblyman Conte has
been advocating and supporting for years.
“I am pleased to announce that the state
has awarded the Town of Huntington a $1.56 million
Restore NY grant to help revitalize our community,”
said Conte. “This important funding will be
used to build seven new owner-occupied town homes
with rental units on the top floors at the corner
of Railroad and Lowndes Avenue while also rehabbing
two adjacent homes as part of the Town of Huntington’s
‘Take Back the Block program’.”
The Restore NY program is intended to develop local
economies and neighborhoods by awarding grant money
to municipalities for the revitalization of commercial
and residential properties.
“This influx of state funding will go a long
way toward making a once neglected part of the Huntington
community a more desirable place to live, work and
raise a family,” remarked Conte. “Providing
quality homeownership opportunities continues to
be one of my top priorities and I am pleased that
I could do my part in securing this needed funding.”
Assemblyman Conte thanked the Town of Huntington
for drafting the grant proposal and remarked that
it was the close partnership between state and local
officials that made this worthy investment for the
Huntington Station community a reality.
In the past, Assemblyman Conte has secured over
$2 million in funds to help build homes at Highview
on Route 110 and Broadway in Huntington Station.
